“The Mighty One, God the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.” (Ps 50:1-2)
Psalm 50 is definitely one of my favorite psalms. What a blessing to know that there is someone who is in charge of this universe and can summon the whole world from east to west when He speaks! In the beginning He created everything by His word.
The rabbis take these verses to mean that God created the world out from the foundation stone in Zion, which is the rock right under the golden cupola today on the Temple Mount.
Chuck Girard wrote a song in the 80’ies with the lyrics: “I formed the worlds with a whisper. But I’m getting ready, I’m getting ready, I’m getting ready to shout!”
Yes, the world will soon be recreated, born again, from the foundation stone in Zion when Messiah returns. It is His throne and it says in Matthew 19:28:
“I assure you and most solemnly say to you, in the renewal [that is, the Messianic restoration and regeneration of all things] when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you [who have followed Me, becoming My disciples] will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” (Amplified Bible)
Yes, He will truly return soon with a shout and the whole world will be born again! He will speak and summon the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting from Zion.
“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.” (1 Th 4:16)
Psalm 50 also contains one of my favorite promises in the Bible.
“… and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” (Ps 50:15)
What a powerful promise! What a wonderful God we have!
I once asked an old Swedish missionary who is now with the Lord what the reason was that he had experienced so many miracles in his life. He answered: “It is very simple. It is because I so often have been in very difficult and impossible situations that have required God’s miraculous power.”
God is faithful. Have a wonderful day living by the Word of God!
