Psalm 1 describes the blessedness of the righteous who do not walk in the counsel of the wicked, but have their delight in the law of the LORD. The second Psalm then proceeds to describe the counsel of the wicked:
“Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his anointed.” (Ps 2:1-2)
It is futile to act against the words and plans of the Almighty. Our only safety is in surrender to Him and His plans. That is why we must study His Word. The second Psalm continues:
“He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, ‘As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.’” (v. 4-6)
Zion is God’s holy hill – the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. It is God’s throne in the earth where His Messiah will sit and rule forever over the nations. Today this throne is being prepared for the Son. The Psalm ends:
“Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” (v. 10-12)
Yeshua means: “God’s salvation”. He is the Son. There is no salvation for us apart from Him.
The wise men from the east were wise because they had obviously studied the Scriptures. They knew the Torah where it says:
“I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near: a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel; it shall crush the forehead of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth.” (Nu 24:17)
The wise men feared God. They came to kiss the Son, the Messiah, the newborn King of the Jews.
“…behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.’” (Mt 2:1-2)
Because they worshiped, kissed, the newborn King, God rescued them from the deadly wrath of King Herod. “And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.” (v. 13)
Rahab, the prostitue was saved because she had also heard about God’s mighty acts and she feared the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and submitted to His plans for His people. “By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.” (Heb 11:31) Rahab said:
“I know that the LORD has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you. For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you devoted to destruction. … Now then, please swear to me by the LORD that, as I have dealt kindly with you, you also will deal kindly with my father’s house, and give me a sure sign that you will save alive my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them, and deliver our lives from death.” (Jos 2:9-13)
The sure sign was the scarlet cord, symbolizing the blood of Messiah and she tied it in the window of her house. Because of Rahab’s faith in this sign she became a mother in the lineage of King David and the Messiah. What an incredible honor and reward for her faith! Salmon, the son of Nahson, the prince of Judah (Nu 2:3), married Rahab, who became the mother of David’s great grandfather.
“Nahshon the father of Salmon, and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David the king.” (Mt 1:4-6)
Maybe Salmon was one of the two spies that Joshua sent out and he married Rahab because he was so impressed by her faith and kindness to save his life. God is rich in mercy and love to those who surrender to Him and His salvation. Baruch HaShem! Blessed be His Name!
Let us study the Scriptures and make sure that we do not have any part in the counsel of the wicked and their rebellion against the Son in these end times!

Thanks for a great comment. It immediately brings me an association to one of my favorite quotes in psalm 85:10 “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.” The union of mercy of truth is found in the Son and brings salvation, the fruit thereof is righteousness and peace which strengthens us to live a life in holiness.
