“The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good. The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.” (Ps 14:1-2)
Today’s Western civilization has to a large extent been built on the foundation of the Holy Scriptures and the Ten Commandments. All the great universities in America for example embraced in the beginning this foundation. With the emergence and acceptance of the evolution theory this foundation began to crumble. Today fools who say “There is no God” are in power and leading the way in the West.
“Dead flies make the perfumer’s ointment give off a stench; so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor. A wise man’s heart inclines him to the right, but a fool’s heart to the left.” (Ecc 10:2) Yes, left and right in politics were from the beginning established based on the explicit rebellion against God and the Holy Scriptures during the French revolution. Today ideas based on atheistic, socialist Marxism are destroying Western culture from within.
In Romans chapter 1, Paul clearly outlines the deterioration of the human character that inevitably will follow the denial of God as the Creator of everything.
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools.” (Ro 1:18-22)
One of the first results of the rejection of God as Creator is homosexuality. From there the moral depravity rapidly descends towards the point of God’s inevitable and righteous judgment.
“For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” (v. 26-32)
Throughout human history homosexuality has at different times been rampant in society. Our generation, however, is the first since the days of Noah and the Flood to accept and legalize homosexual marriages as something normal. This brazen expression of rebellion against God is preparing the way for the anti-messiah and the coming judgment.
Before judgment comes God will give the world one final call to repentance.
“Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. And he said with a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.’” (Rev 14:6-7)
Paul said on the Areopagus in Athens:
“And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us.” (Ac 17:26-27)
Let us be careful to not walk in the way of fools. Let us instead fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Let us honor and worship him who made heaven and earth! The primary way to worship God is to humbly, carefully and fearfully study His Scriptures in order to obey them.
“All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the LORD. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.” (Isa 66:2)

Thank you, Lars, for this much-needed teaching. The Eccl. 10:2 reference is frighteningly relevant to U. S. politics now! Lord, have mercy on us!
Lars Enarson
Thank you Nancy! Yes we need the Word to guide us in these difficult times. The more you study the Scriptures the more you realize how far we have fallen. Bless you!
